ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES


Frost Christenson Mihalik, Inc.
provides clients with indoor air/ indoor environment services to ensure that residents, homeowners, employees, students, children, the elderly, and those that are ill have a safe and healthful indoor environment in which to live, work, study, visit, or be treated. Frost Christenson Mihalik also provides services related to mold investigations and remediation oversight, environmental and regulatory compliance, building decontamination/ decommissioning, chemical exposure (industrial hygiene), Environmental / Health / Safety (EHS) audits and training, and technical support and expert testimony on lawsuits.

 

Indoor Environment / Indoor Air Services 

Microbiological (including Mold and Bacteria) Investigations

    • Visual Investigations
    • Surface and Air Sampling
    • Cause / Origin of Water Event or Intrusion Investigations
    • Development of Remediation Protocol
    • Preparation of Bid Specifications
    • Review of Remediation Proposals and Plans submitted by Contractors
    • Monitor or Oversee Remediation
    • Conduct Post-Remediation Inspection and Sampling

 

Sick-Building / Building-Related Illnesses

  • Investigate Source(s) of Complaints from Employees, Residents, Tenants related to Building-Related Illnesses
  • Measure Comfort Factors (e.g., temperature, relative humidity, air movement)
  • Evaluate and Collect Samples for Microbiological Material, Chemicals (e.g., cleaning products, sabotage [discharge of pepper spray or tear gas]), or Hazardous Materials (e.g., lead, asbestos, etc.)
  • Measure for Contaminants such as Carbon Dioxide, Carbon Monoxide, and Ozone
  • Inspect and Evaluate Heating / Ventilating/Air Conditioning Systems for Contamination and/or Proper Operation

Risk Management and Loss Control

  • Conduct Inspections to Identify Problem Areas Related to the Indoor Air / Environment
  • Develop Plans to Correct Problem Areas
  • Develop O&M Plans to Prevent Future Problems
  • Conduct Audits of O&M

 

Remediation and Cleanup Oversight

  • Provide Technical and Hygiene Oversight on microbial remediation, fire restoration (soot), and water intrusion (including grey and black water) projects

Industrial Hygiene / Occupational Health Services

Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS)

  • Conduct Inspections / Audits to Identify EHS Risks
  • Measure Employee Exposures
  • Evaluate Existing Loss Control Programs
  • Develop Plans to Guide Compliance with Applicable Rules, Regulations, and Industry Standards
  • Conduct Noise Exposure Evaluations and Recommend Control Measure
  • Conduct EHS Training

Environmental Services 

Environmental Compliance, Permitting, and Remediation Oversight

  • Inspections to Identify Hazardous Substances, Materials, and/or Chemicals
  • Lead-based Paint Inspections
  • Asbestos and Asbestos-Containing Material Inspections

  • Conduct Environmental Compliance Audits
  • Develop Plans to Implement Compliance Requirements

  • Conduct Inspections of Buildings to Identify Areas of Concern Relative to Environmental Systems (e.g., HVAC)
